From May 1, 2018 and May 31, 2019 a whopping 233 albums were amassed in consideration for The Polaris Music Prize. The 40 albums chosen represent The Polaris Prize Long List; the best Canada has to offer, which we get to salivate over for the next three weeks before they narrow it down to their top ten.
With just a little more than week left before the release of Hey Rosetta! frontman Tim Baker’s new solo album, “Forever Overhead,” we’re getting treated to a new video for the album’s second single, “All Hands.”
The video provides something of a snapshot of Tim Baker’s life, that is if you agree with Jim Rohn that each of us are all the average of the people we share our time with. “All Hands” consistent entirely of footage made up of Baker’s friends and family, including cameos from his Hey Rosetta! bandmates.
“All Hands is a song about my past, about growing up in the west end of St. John’s, and knowing I’ll get back there someday. The title is an expression we use all the time there to refer to ‘everyone’. And so for the video I wanted to see if I could show all of the people behind the song, behind the album, behind the ‘solo’ Tim Baker – my everyone, so to speak. So it’s sort a montage of teachers, friends, family, colleagues, supporters – people that were instrumental in the making of the record, and the making of me.
Of course we couldn’t actually fit everyone in exactly, but I went to five different cities over three weeks and got as many as I could. I want to thank all hands for making time for it, all the different camera operators, and especially my director Jordan Canning once again. Yes, I just want to thank everyone.”
Forever Overhead will be released on April 19 via Arts & Crafts.

Tim Baker teased us back in October with a video of “Dance” cobbled together from his Side Door series of small venue performances. Taken from his upcoming solo album, Forever Overhead, the song created a buzz for an already much-anticipated release from the former Hey Rosetta! frontman. While beautiful on its own, the song takes on an extra layer of amazing with this new official video, directed by Jordan Canning.
