Hot x Proxy are starting to feel their age. It’s a sorry state to be in for any working rocking band, but the fourpiece have found a surefire method for coping: “Fake It”. With a dose of self-awareness, and probably a little joint pain, the band’s new single brings it like it’s still 1999. Continue reading Hot x Proxy Keep on Top of Their Game With ‘Fake It’

Single: Clare Follett Takes the Reins as Producer for ‘Crashing Cars’
“Crashing Cars” is the Pop-Rock head of the spear to Clare Follett’s upcoming sophomore break up album. Rehashing a metaphor as old as Karl Benz himself, the St. John’s, Newfoundland-based artist makes the comparison of an impending car wreck to all the excitement of a whirlwind relationship. As Baxter puts it, he was “looking for the faintest glowing spark to guide me through the dark.” Continue reading Music Video: Adam Baxter’s ‘These Days’ is an Act of Self-Care in Dark Times
Single: Ofra Harnoy, Alan Doyle and Maureen Ennis Cover Ron Hynes’ Classic ‘St. John’s Waltz’
When I heard that Ofra Harnoy and Alan Doyle would record my favourite Ron Hynes song, “St. John’s Waltz” together for Harnoy’s Newfoundland folk song project On The Rock, my heart jumped. Harnoy is one of the countries most accomplished cellists and Alan Doyle is a story-telling songwriter and good-time performer perfect for interpreting a master’s work.
