Silver Wolf Band, out of Happy Valley-Goosebay, Labrador, want to set something straight about nearby Lake Melville: it’s not a bay, it’s an estuary and probably even a metaphor. The curiously named body of water has been a matter of some debate, and in a pique of accurate hydrological pedantry, Silver Wolf Band have either laid matters to rest with the matter-of-factly titled single “Estuary,” or else stirred up a new seven-day wonder for the people of Labrador to sort out. Music Video: Dave Carroll Starts Planning Ahead With ‘When The World Stops Ending’
Halifax-based award-winning singer-songwriter (and social media innovator) Dave Carroll, best known for his world-famous song, “United Breaks Guitars,” has released a new video today. His new song, “When The World Stop Ending” is a challenge to re-examine your priorities, whatever matters most, and how you want to invest the time that you have, particularly as we all imagine how to move forward in a post-COVID world. Or we desperately want to be connected to it. And if we can’t live vicariously through this character embarking for an extrabubble activity, we may have to resort to fan-fiction. Continue reading Music Video: Sleepless Nights Capture Isolation and Anxiety in a 4:3 Frame for ‘Greatest Hits’
Music Video: Rob Murphy Revisits the Recent History of Cape Breton on ‘Ghosts’
Ahead of his upcoming album, Rob Murphy has released his “Ghosts,” a new single and video that pays homage to his hometown of New Waterford, Cape Breton, its once-busy community, the beauty of the nearby landscapes and its rugged coastlines. But it’s also a reminder that this way of life is disappearing; small towns are getting smaller, the industries that they once thrived on are changing, and Cape Breton, in particular, has faced more than its share of challenges.
