From July 12th to 16th, the city of Halifax was buzzing with the sounds of jazz – and much, much more. TD’s 31st annual Halifax Jazz Festival attracted music lovers of all genres to a week of concerts and workshops across the city. Local musical favourites such as The Brood and Gypsophilia were joined by internationally acclaimed names like Blue Rodeo, Ron Sexsmith, and Anderson. Paak. Summer’s End Folk Festival: Grand Theft Bus, Keith Hallett, And David R. Elliott Join 2017 Line-Up
Grand Manan is a curious place. It’s the kind of spot you’d live in if you enjoy organizing your day around the tides and/or ferry schedule, have ever considered opening a care home for retired pirates, are completely indifferent to the ripeness of avocados, and don’t mind the occasional bit of vigilante justice. So logically it’s the perfect place for a music festival (except for that bit about the avocados).
Now in it’s 8th year, Summer’s End Folk Festival is the appropriately curious music festival designed to bolster the arts community in just such an equally curious place.
Quality Block Party v1.2: Saint John Gets Permanent Music Festival
Quality Block Party – the festival that aimed to bring the independent music of New Brunswick to the forefront, as well as hold its own, during the chaos that was the East Coast Music Awards – is rolling back onto the streets of Uptown Saint John with version 1.2 from August 10th to 13th ! This iteration of Quality Block will have the city to itself, the ECMA’s having come and gone, allowing for the festival to have a bit of room to breathe and further develop its character.
