Welcome to the end of 2020. All we’re going to say is that we’re glad to have survived and if we don’t get struck by a meteor tomorrow, we will call it a win.
There’s something in the air that feels a little different; maybe it’s that we’re all getting the hang of 2020 (at least some parts of it), maybe it’s recent Presidential turnover south of the border, or maybe it’s the impending sense of Christmas cheer that seems to have come early. Whatever the case, the Universe feels like it’s slowly beginning to right itself.
More than likely, however, we’re just feeling of having the impossible weight of our annual East Coast Christmas Gift Guide lifted from our backs, so be sure to check that out!
As has been the tradition of 2020, October has been a wild month. Fortunately for everyone, some of that includes great news.
Unfortunately, one bit of sad news that has stuck out this month has been the loss of Jenny Jobbins, Tay Creek’s Festival Founder. She was a wonder; a writer, an adventurer, a supporter of the arts, and a bon vivant. We hope you take a moment to read a little more about her. She will be sorely missed.
The Atlantic Bubble might be finding ways of getting back to normal but, obviously, some things are still the same. September is, historically, a busy month for music releases. With award nominations on their way, there’s always a big rush to get new material out in time. This year was no exception. We may have only skimmed the surface.
Thanks to the Atlantic Canadian Bubble, August was the month we returned to socially-distanced theatre productions and the briefest of encounters with open-air live music. We might not be ready to dive back in with both feet, but it was nice to have just a taste. The new normal is still a long way off but in the meantime, we sure have a lot of new albums to review.
