Give me something hard and fast and short and sweet and sounds like I’m riding a shopping cart through a drugstore window. Most people would mistakenly believe that sounds a lot like screaming and a shattering of glass, followed almost immediately with all kinds of alarms and sirens. The truth is that it sounds a lot more like 2002, the rush of hormones and, more recently, The Follow Ups. New Music: Tampa Release New Material Ahead of Area 506
Even though it’s only August we’re confident that Tampa released one of our favourite albums of 2018 back in March. Rising from the ashes of Danger Cat, the Moncton band’s reincarnation blew us away with their debut Belated Love. But the album proved to be more fruitful than initially advertised. A pair of tracks, “Unless” and “Intro/Heartfelt,” have reappeared after temporarily displacing themselves to the cutting room floor. New Music: The Galpines Offer Bad Behaviour and Good Tunes on ‘Sorry Mom’
If great art is produced through authenticity and relatability, then The Galpines are the great troubadours of our time. Their music rings out with a peel of honesty as a true zeitgeist of our generation. Unsurprisingly, I could hardly listen to Sorry Mom, their appropriately titled full-length album, while my own mother was within earshot.
