The CAP Puts Out a Call for Help for Live Music in Fredericton with Fundraising Initiative #KEEPITLIVE

Long established as the home of live music in Fredericton, New Brunswick, The CAP has been provided a crucial platform for local artists, a touring destination, and the source of a lot of good times.

Despite the support the venue has seen from the community to eke out a successful summer, hosting several reduced-capacity shows from the venue’s patio and parking lot, there are concerns the winter months and the need to move indoors will be disastrous. That is, at least without making some significant alterations.

The CAP has put out a call for help with their #KEEPITLIVE Project, a fundraising initiative for a long-term investment in infrastructure that will allow fans to enjoy live, indoor music, during the era of COVID-19. Premiere: Kill Chicago Go for a Fistful of Spaghetti on ‘Pull Over’

Kill Chicago’s horn-laden “Pull Over” stands out as a multi-facetted Ennio Morricone-inspired closing track to their 2019 album, The Fix. With a spaghetti western soundtrack, the song compares divorce to a stand-off and, as can be seen in the new video, a lot of the damage gets taken by the innocent bystanders. Single: Wicked Vices Make Some Changes to Arrive at ‘Butterfly’

The new single from Fredericton’s Wicked Vices, “Butterfly,” plays on the Butterfly Effect – not the 2004 film starring Ashton Kutcher, but the theory that even the most minute of actions, like a butterfly flapping its wings, can bring about drastic changes. With several new changes within the band, not to mention everywhere else, it seems the band are optimistically looking for something a little different. In Review: ‘The Fifth Wall’ Brings Important Lessons to an Uncertain World

The COVID-19 pandemic has been nothing short of a worldwide disaster. From pole to pole, we’ve seen several businesses come to a close, countless lives lost, and our very way of life altered for what’s sure to be the long run. The losses we’ve experienced from the pandemic will never outweigh the things we’ve gained.

Despite this, there’s something to be said about the introspection opportunities that we’ve been afforded. With that in mind, if any art project is up for the job of addressing these introspections, it has to be The Fifth Wall, the multi-artist project headed by Fredericton theatre artists Corenski Nowlan and Scott Shannon, of Herbert The Cow Productions and Nasty Shadows Theatre Co., respectively.
