Last week Fredericton’s Harvest Jazz & Blues Festival was abuzz with the news that Georgian country-rockers Blackberry Smoke wouldn’t be headlining the festival, or even getting into the country on account of some legal troubles. Watch Now: AJ Ripley’s New Webseries ‘Babes’

Did you use a washroom today? Was it a public one? Did you have to think about it? Media coverage regarding trans issues can often come across as a slew of one-dimensional concerns over human rights and who’s going to pay for it. While this is an important part of the conversation, it leaves much to be desired in the quest to broaden the definition of normalcy. AJ Ripley–human, family member, sibling, friend, nerd, PhD student, writer, performance artist, bicyclist–is adding Web Series creator to their long list of non-binary descriptors. Their new series, Babes, is all about normal people living in the city of Fredericton, the main character of which just happens to be trans.

Graystone Brewing Announces Opening Date

Canada Day, the biggest holiday of the summer season, is a day where fireworks go off and parties go on. We celebrate our nation in the most Canadian of ways – a two-four with some friends and a barbeque. Fredericton residents will have a new way to celebrate this year with the grand opening of Graystone Brewing on July 1st. The brewery will make its new home at 221 King Street and claims the distinction of being the first brewery and tap house experience in downtown Fredericton.
