The Living Roots Music Festival, Fredericton’s celebration of curated music and unlikely venues, is returning for their third iteration. Last year’s festival saw forty-five acts from all over the world perform across the city in some unexpected places: breweries, pubs, cafes, bars, a barbershop and a church. This year they aim to do it all over again and have announced their first headliners for 2018.

The Best Music Of 2017
At this point, we can’t talk about 2017 without getting angry. So, if you don’t mind, let’s just skip it. Thankfully, there was some good to come out of the year, particularly in the category of music. We’ve heard some great music from veteran songwriters, new artists making their mark and some bands (we’re talking about you, Partner) launching themselves to international stardom.

Our Top Stories Of 2017
In his song ‘As Days Go By’, Jesse Frederick immortalized the words, “It’s a rare condition, this day and age, to read any good news on the newspaper page.” That was in 1989: a time before 9/11, Twitter, and Donald Trump’s political career. If he had only know what the next few decades would bring… 2017 was, at best, a warning shot. It was a new benchmark. It was a year that should stand out in history as a lesson, a painful reminder that we can do better, because while we could do worse, we wouldn’t survive it very long.
