Brooklyn Doran and Rory Taillon are two extraordinary musicians from Ontario. Brooklyn is a songwriter of incredible charm and talent, and Rory is a powerhouse vocalist and performer. Their careers has brought them to the East Coast so often that they may as well be honorary Maritimers.

The pair have made a habit of touring craft breweries across the East Coast, exploring the natural synergy between music and craft beer, and have become enthusiastic experts. HUFF Announces Free Concerts on Halifax Waterfront and Expands 2019 Lineup

The Halifax Urban Folk Festival offers a whirlwind tour of the city’s music venues each year, but one is standing out in particular as a special destination. Develop Nova Scotia and the Downtown Halifax Business Commission are sponsoring two nights of great performances on the HUFF Waterfront Stage at The Salt Yard. The festival have also announced an extra handful of acts who will be swelling the ranks of their 2019 lineup. Let’s just not talk about the state of the world in 2019. We can safely assume it’s burning. Neil Young had something to stay about that, but probably not in this context. Rather, let’s focus on the music that’s being created despite it.

Through careful research and data collection, our team at The East have been able to scientifically catalogue, dissect, and distill every tasty little earful to arrive at this: our list for The Best Music of 2019 (so far).

Monthly Roundup: June 2019

Since the dawn of the music industry it has been declared that June would be a month of singles being released just in time to hype music festivals and tours. Uncoincidently, it also corresponds to the spawning of a sufficient number of mosquitos to dampen any enthusiasm for the former. This is a necessary step in the circle of life: music festivals beget mosquitos, which in turn travel up the food chain until your heart gets broken in the fourth grade, leaving a void that can only be filled through a lifelong addiction to music. Thus, the cycle is completed.

Famously, science has  proven that soda exists independently of this cycle, and yet arrives at the same results, but at least no one gets hurt. Life is a curious thing.

Future Forest Prepared for Another Otherworldly Experience – Announce Full 2019 Lineup

Future Forest, the only natural conclusion for two consecutive decades of re-watching Hook on VHS, have just announced their 2019 lineup along with the release of their poster. The EDM (and all genres contained therein) festival features more than 140 artists, is located on 200 acres of forest in Ripples, New Brunswick forty-five minutes outside of Fredericton, and it all takes place between July 26 – 29, 2019.
