Handworks Gallery Prepares for Reopening in Saint John as Province Enters ‘Orange Phase’
It’s been nearly two months since Handworks Gallery in Saint John, New Brunswick shut their doors. Like all non-essential businesses, the COVID-19 pandemic left the art gallery with no other option but to close to the public and seek out new methods for conducting their business. Now, with the province of New Brunswick entering the “Orange Phase” of their COVID-recovery plan and easing restrictions, Handworks Gallery is preparing to reopen with several new precautionary measures in place. Iceberg Alley Performance Tent Cancels 2020 Festival
Usually held in September, Iceberg Alley’s organizers seem to have held out some hope that they might still squeeze in at the end of the season’s festivities. Today, however, the eleven-day festival held on the banks of Quidi Vidi Lake at the edge of St. John’s, NL, has finally announced that they’ll be joining the list of festivals that have been cancelled by COVID-19. Fires and locusts and plagues! Oh my! Never mind the fact that the US government slipped in some footage of UFOs and absolutely no one batted an eye. 2020 is turning out to be one heck of a year. The big news this month was, of course, that festival season has been cancelled this year. Undoubtedly, that will cause some financial hardships for touring musicians and some severe withdrawal symptoms for festival-goers, but we suspect that we’ll be seeing some bold ingenuity in the weeks to come.
