The Improvisation Corporation kicked off the Saint John Theatre Company’s Canadian Stages Series tonight, November 30th, with The Santaland Diaries. Neil Bonner stars in this adaptation by Joe Mantello of David Sedaris’s popular essay of the same name, where he recounts his hilarious holiday season working as an elf in Santaland at Macy’s. The Saint John Theatre Company debuted its Main Stage series last night, November 22, 2017, with It’s A Wonderful Life: The Radio Play. Written by Philip Grecian, this onstage radio play is based on the classic holiday film by Frank Capra. Originally released in December 1946, the timeless story, now 71 years old, tells the tale of protagonist George Bailey. In Review: InterAction Performs Musical Rendition Of Jack Black Film ‘School Of Rock’
InterAction School of Performing Arts kicked off its Main Stage season with a musical rendition of the 2003 popular movie School of Rock. The story that arguably brought Jack Black to the peak of his career, and scored him a Golden Globe nominee for Best Actor in a musical or comedy, was just as enjoyable this time around as it was when it played at the Paramount Theatre fourteen years ago. In Review: SJTC Tours Tennessee William’s Classic ‘The Glass Menagerie’
This Tuesday, the Saint John Theatre Company debuted The Glass Menagerie directed by Dean Turner. The classic memory play – where the main character is also narrator – was written by Tennessee Williams, the playwright responsible for A Streetcar Named Desire (1947), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (1955), and Sweet Bird of Youth (1959). In Review: NY Gilbert & Sullivan Players bring H.M.S. Pinafore to Imperial
After years of trying to land the prestigious New York Gilbert & Sullivan Players, the Imperial Theatre finally managed to attract the unforgettable performance of the H.M.S. Pinafore, and was the only Canadian stop on their tour. The comic opera showed Thursday, October 5th, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. to a very well-attended audience.
