Regardless of how you feel about astrology, but there are definitely some occasions when you can miss out on living your best life when you’ve been too engrossed with staring at your shoes instead of picking up on signs of astrological proportions.
Today, Brooklyn Blackmore, the award-winning 23-year-old Country/Pop artist from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, has released her brand new single, “Missin’ The Moon”; a song that is, essentially, about longing. In a much more pragmatic sense, however, “Missin’ The Moon” is a song that calls out people out for just being completely oblivious sometimes.
Co-written with hit writers Aaron Goodvin and Brent Baxter, and produced by Grammy-nominated Matt McClure, Blackmore says that she set out to bring a fresh sound to the country music industry by bringing strong influences from different pop artists such as Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus to her own work.
“Aaron, Brent and I had an absolute blast writing this song together and it shows through the fun and carefree nature of the song,” says Blackmore. “Music has always been the root of my happiness and I wanted to create something that would share this love with my listeners.”
And props have to be given to Blackmore for that clever twist of expectations on “Missin’ The Moon.” It’s not your typical song about pining away for a ship that’s sailed, but a lament of the all-too-familiar occasion of having not quite gotten the timing right on something when all the signs seem obvious—or, at least obvious to one person.
“Wanna shake you till you wake up,
Till you finally see the truth,
It’s us that’s written in the stars,
But here you are,
Missing the moon”
“‘Missin’ The Moon’ is a story of longing for love that has been sitting right in front of you all along. This track has a contagious feel-good energy that makes you want to dance and hooks that will be stuck in your head all day, and to me, that’s what music is about!”
