After a long year of hiccups for the music industry, it comes as little surprise that Music PEI should have to make some quick changes to their annual Credit Union Music PEI Week. Due to the recent changes of protocol from Prince Edward Island’s Department of Health, Music PEI has had to postpone their annual conference and awards show.
Originally scheduled from March 4th to 7th, the 2021 Credit Union Music PEI Week has successfully been revised and rescheduled to take place later this month. Fortunately for everyone involved, the change in date comes with a silver lining.
“It was a bit depressing getting the news of new cases on PEI and the current circuit breaker, but the team at Music PEI was able to reschedule the entire event to the weekend of March 26th to the 28th,” said Rob Oakie, Executive Director of Music PEI. “And as a happy result, we are taking over the Delta Prince Edward Convention Centre for the entire weekend and presenting all the shows there.”
The revised schedule is as follows:
“Beginning with Friday night, the 26th, nominees in the Diggin Deep Roots and Red Dirt Rock shows will perform simultaneously in two separate ballrooms kicking off at 8:00 P.M.
Saturday afternoon at 1:30 P.M. the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Concert will feature the nominees for the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year award.
Saturday evening at 8:00 P.M., the artists performing in the Sounds For The Soul and Block Party will take the stage.
Sunday afternoon, the Awards Party will start at 1:00 P.M. and the celebrations close off.
Sunday night with the Festival Finale featuring the top nominees.”
Tickets for the event go on sale, Tuesday, March 9th via Music PEI’s website. The organization also notes that individuals who had previously purchased tickets may contact Music PEI to be added to a priority list to receive tickets for the same shows.
