Classified and Rose Cousins Top List of 2021 East Coast Music Award Nominees

The East Coast Music Association have announced all 216 nominations for the 2021 East Coast Music Awards, 8 of which have gone to Classified, followed by Rose Cousins with 6, and Beòlach, Catherine MacLellan, David Myles, Neon Dreams, and Rich Aucoin all with four each.

With a few adjustments to processes and policies this year, the East Coast Music Association have moved to ease the awards submission and jurying processes—especially in light of the pandemic—and to encourage the organization to become a better reflection of the diversity found across the Atlantic Canadian music industry.

Among those changes include the creation of a new African Canadian Artist of the Year award and designating the annual Bucky Adams Memorial Award as an honorary award, as well as appointing new board members Delvina Bernard, Patricia Bourque, and Eva George to spearhead the committees for the African Canadian Artist of the Year Award, the Indigenous Artist of the Year Award, and the Francophone Recording of the Year Award, respectively.

Other changes this year including the return of the Children’s Entertainer of the Year award, and the creation of two new awards for both Industry and Artist Innovators who have made big shifts over the last year in an industry that has been hit hard by COVID-19.
