Country-pop artist Brooklyn Blackmore released her debut EP Get A Little Crazy in January 2020, and recently unveiled her video for the lead single “Chasing the Sunset.”
“Chasing the Sunset” is a sweet song about a special person who came into Blackmore’s life and helped her to find the strength to trust and love again after having her heart broken in the past. Blackmore has a very strong voice rooted firmly in the country sound without having that stereotypical twang that can sometimes border on parody.
“Every song on my EP has a different story to tell. I poured my heart and soul into each track and really wanted to connect with my listeners through the music,” says Blackmore.
The video is one of the most wholesomely saccharine music videos I’ve ever seen. Blackmore drives through picturesque landscapes in her vintage Ford truck on her way to pick up her love interest. As they walk through a park they see two other couples that represent future stages of a relationship; a young couple having a picnic with their toddler and a senior couple walking their dog.
Blackmore’s EP was recorded by Scott Ferguson at FMP Matrix in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. Ferguson deserves praise for the fantastic production of “Chasing the Sunset.” With the densely layered percussion, piano, guitars and vocals, I could easily have mistaken this for being recorded in a state-of-the-art Nashville studio with big funding from a major label as opposed to a quaint port city known more for indie rock and folk music.
Brooklyn Blackmore is a fresh face with a bright future on the east coast country scene. Across Get a Little Crazy’s six songs Blackmore demonstrates she can go from soft piano ballads (“Rain Won’t Last”) to upbeat rockin’ party songs (“Flower Child”). It’ll be interesting to see how this young artist evolves over the course of her career.
