At this point, it probably doesn’t need to be stated that a lot can change in a year. The latest single from Pat LePoidevin, the appropriately titled “November,” was written a year ago, well before anyone was isolating during a pandemic. LePoidevin, however, was already experiencing an isolation of his own at the time.
There’s a forlorn pleading to LePoidevin’s new single. It’s not entirely dissimilar to his tales of all the vastness of outer space from his previous album and space opera, Captain Myles & the SPR, but the subject matter originates much closer to home. While LePoidevin acknowledges that this November has felt particularly long for many of us, the song was written a full year ago while his wife was working far away from home.
Now, with a full-blown pandemic on our hands and mandatory isolation being a regular part of life, the song has taken on a much different tone.
“It’s ironic how much this song has been through,” says LePoidevin. “It just feels as though it was meant to be worked on through this extraordinary year. It started out as something completely different, and over time, it has gained this captivating and reflective tone. It was honestly just a song I wrote when I was missing Aly, but has turned into a song about missing everyone, and everything. Missing the way things used to be. November always feels long, but with everything that has happened, it feels particularly extended this year.”
“November” is the first single from Pat LePoidevin’s new album that is expected to be released in Spring, 2021. He’s currently working with 2020 ECMA Producer of the Year-nominee and multi-instrumentalist Mark Adam at Music at the Woods Studio in Gaspereau. Adam has also has written the arrangement for “November” and can be heard performing on the keys, marimba, and percussion for the single.
LevPoidevin says to expect a series of single to be released throughout the winter months ahead of the album’s full release.
