Halifax’s The Bloody Hell have made an homage to the great horror films of the 80s and 90s, particularly the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre film with their latest release, “Last Word.”
With a name like “The Bloody Hell”, it shouldn’t be all that surprising that there’s an element of gore to the band’s ethos. After all, their one lastest video releases, “Out of Our Minds“, incorporated a few graphic scenes that even they felt were a bit much, despite the NSFW subject matter being portrayed by a couple of Barbie Dolls.
“Last Words” doesn’t skimp on the realism though. The band sought out some professionals who specialize in the heebie-jeebies, and filmed at the wildly popular Riverbreeze Fear Farm located in Truro, Nova Scotia. Every October, the rural family farm is transformed into an amazing series of haunted houses and corn mazes, all for the sake of you wetting your pants.
“We thought it was the perfect setting for this video so we reached out to the owners and to our delight, they loved the idea,” says Ian Kean, The Bloody Hell’s vocalist and guitarist.
“They put so much detail and effort into the esthetic and atmosphere of a truly frightening, yet fun experience and I feel we did a good job of capturing that vibe on this video while giving a nod to the horror classic of our childhood.”
The track comes from The Bloody Hell’s 2018 debut album, which was recorded at New Scotland Yard Studio in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, the results of which have yielded a plethora of results. Of the eight tracks on the album, this is the sixth to receive a video.
“I encourage anyone not familiar with our previous videos and singles to visit our social media pages and check them out,” says Kean. “Each single has a unique video that helps connect the audience with the theme of the song on a visual level. To us, the visual concept is part of the writing process, and we hope that anyone who comes across our music will also enjoy our videos.”
Of course, it helps if you also really enjoy horror movies.
