Joining the list of festivals to be held online this year is Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival. Held annually on PEI at the Fiddle Grounds near Souris and founded in 1976, the festival will hold its 2020 iteration on July 18th. Though this will be its 44th year, it will be its first in a digital format.
Normally a weekend festival filled with performances, dancing and camping, the festival will be held online this year. On Saturday, July 18, the Roll Bay Fiddle Festival will be hosting a live-streamed, 24-hour jam with performances by The Chaisson Family, Lennie Gallant, Inn Echo, Emmanuelle LeBlanc & Pascal Miousse (Vishtèn), Rowen Gallant & Jesse Périard (Ten Strings and a Goat Skin) and more.
“These are difficult times for our industry, our peers, and the attendees of this festival and we wanted to make sure we were able to gather together as we do each summer and create something special on Prince Edward Island,” says Tim Chaisson, spokesperson for the Big Field Traditions board. “There will be non-stop music and dancing for 24 hours and you can enjoy all of it from the safety of your home. There’s no place like home and Rollo Bay is truly where it all began for us. Stay home with your family and spend 24 hours with our family!”
The majority of the proceeds from all tickets sold will be divided between not-for-profit organizations Big Field Traditions and the Souris Food Bank.
Tickets for the Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival Live Stream can be purchased HERE. Participants can purchase tickets individually, in pairs or by household. Ticket holders will be emailed a private link to the live-stream 24 hours before its start date and time.
For those who have already purchased Music Camp passes for 2020, Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival is offering to either refund the cost or honour the pass in 2021.
