On July 7th, the New Brunswick Museum Centre will reopen to the public after remaining closed for 4 long months due to the pandemic. But, as did all of the other businesses that recently reopened, the museum will be implementing some changes to adhere to new safety protocols and adjustments in their exhibits.
The museum’s hours of operation, however, will not be the same as they were before their March closure. They will be open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., and Thursdays from 12:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. They will be closed Sundays and Mondays.
The use of non-medical face masks will be highly recommended for guests at the museum. Staff and clients will also be required to follow other social distancing and hygiene protocols, which are outlined on the museum’s website HERE.
While some programs put on by the museum will remain on pause, the staff will be working on incorporating more outdoor walking tours for guests, and entrance fees will be reduced from the usual rate.
“It is with much enthusiasm and excitement that we announce the re-opening of New Brunswick Museum Exhibition Centre at Market Square,” says Bill Hicks, the New Brunswick Museum’s CEO. “The New Brunswick Museum is your provincial museum and Canada’s oldest continuing museum. We will continue to engage people of all ages, with knowledge and understanding of New Brunswick’s cultures, natural history and environment.”
The museum says the public can also expect to see announcements for the reopening of the New Brunswick Museum Archives and Research Library in the near future.
Further information on the museum’s new hours of operation and fees can also be found on its website HERE.
