Currently riding the high of a new release, a healthy bit of radio play and a birthday all at the same time, International Singer Songwriters Association award winner for International Album of the Year, Guy Paul Thibault is celebrating with his new single “Sparkle and Shine.”
Not to be confused with the 1997 hit of the same name from Canadian alternative rockers Econoline Crush, Thibault’s “Sparkle and Shine” is a far brighter tune, devoid of ’90s angst and resplendent with Greg Daniels’ steel guitar and Paul Pottie’s piano.
The song is also bursting at the bars with an energy that is obviously better suited to a warmer season. Brimful of brightness and the fresh prospects of romance, “Spark and Shine” is a two minutes and fifty-four second escape from the frozen wasteland of January.
“It’s a simple ditty about falling in love over a summer’s campfire,” says Guy Paul Thibault on the inspiration behind the song.
“I think it was the phrase ‘Sparkle and Shine’ and playing so many private events through out the summer that ended with most of us around a campfire watching the stars and dancing.”
Thibault say the release of “Spark and Shine” is part of an ongoing series that will continue throughout 2020 and will see him collaborating with a string of fellow east coast musicians and friends.
In the meantime, you can catch him on his ever-busy tour schedule across Nova Scotia.
