Music PEI have announced their full lineup for their annual Credit Union Music PEI Week. Taking place over five days, running from February 5th to 9th, 2020, the event celebrates the best of Prince Edward Island’s very musical culture. The week long festivities span venues across the island, with the main event happening downtown Charlottetown at the Rodd Charlottetown Hotel, who will be playing host for the 2020 Music PEI Awards party.
The week’s festivities kick off on the evening of February 5th with a reception at The Alley before an Open Mic at Baba’s Lounge with Emilee Sorrey. The rest of the week also includes the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Concert at St. Paul’s Church and hosted by Matt Rainnie – which includes the awarding of the SOCAN Songwriter of the Year Award. The Celtic Performing Arts Centre at the College of Piping in Summerside goes a little more traditional with the festivals’ Diggin’ Deep Roots showcase, and the Florence Simmons Performance Hall will be closing out the festival on Sunday, February 9th with performances from Music PEI’s nominees: Irish Mythen, Cory Gallant, Gordie Mackeeman & his Rhythm Boys, Paper Lions, and Sorrey.
The Music PEI Awards takes place at Awards Party at The Rodd Charlottetown Hotel on Saturday afternoon. The event is by invitation only and will feature the music of Island Jazz. For more information about the 2020 Music PEI Award nominees click here.
