It’s been a moment since the release of Newfoundland Americana-Country artist Chris Ryan‘s breakout single, “Last Forever,” and he seems to be perfectly fine with it. Or at least coming to grips with it through song. His latest single. “Slow Down,” is all about being mindful of moments, taking time to enjoy them, and just maybe not sweating so much over how long it takes to get a new single out.
It might just be worth the wait, however. Ryan definitely knows how to choose his moments, and if it has meant waiting for the right people to come along, he’s nailed it. “Slow Down” was co-written and produced by perhaps the funkiest R&B artist in Newfoundland, Chris Kirby (if you’ve ever seen Kirby perform with bluesman Matt Andersen you know he’s got the versatility for it), and features Prince Edward Island’s resident fiddle master, Tim Chaisson of The East Pointers.
With that in mind, “Slow Down” is clearly a fine example of “good things come to those who wait.”
“’Slow Down’ is somewhat of an explanatory title. The whole premise of the song is all about taking a moment to embrace your surroundings,” says Ryan. “There’s a lot of captivating things out there that on a daily basis can be dismissed because of ‘screen time’. So, ‘Slow Down”s message is just that, don’t miss the beauty in what’s around you.”
Chris Ryan will be joining Sierra Noble on Johnny Reid’s My Kind of Christmas tour.
