It’s that time of year again; the temperatures steadily begin to drop, jack-o-lanterns play Humpty-Dumpty in parking lots, water begins behaving like a solid, and, if you listen carefully, you can hear the line-up announcement for Shivering Songs floating on the wind.
This morning, Shivering Songs made a special announcement for their tenth anniversary: namely, the first ten artists that will be gracing their stage come January.
The festival, which for its milestone celebration has dubbed itself “Shivering Songs X – Homecoming” will feature Mount Eerie & Julie Doiron’s Lost Wisdom, Matt Andersen, Les Hay Babies, Michael Feuerstack, Zaum, Motherhood, The Hypochondriacs, Tomato/Tomato, along with a special reunion show from The Belle Comedians and, of course, the festival’s founders and musical mainstays, The Olympic Symphonium.
The festival organizers point out that the Homecoming moniker was chosen in recognition of the abundance of the region’s talent that will be appearing on the line-up this year; it’s a celebration of the success many of these bands have had at home and abroad.
“It’s no mistake that this announcement celebrates so many unique New Brunswick artists,” said Festival co-organizer, Zach Atkinson. “Given the overwhelming support we’ve received from the community, it’s important for us to devote a large part of our line-up to highlighting regional talent at Shivering Songs.”
“We’re thrilled to use this milestone in our own story as an opportunity to recognize the tremendous impact of New Brunswick artists on our province and beyond,” Atkinson said.
Centred largely around the Wilmot Church in Fredericton, New Brunswick, the festival is set to take place between January 29th and February 2nd, safely holding its position as the first and chilliest festival of the 2020 season.
Along with today’s announcement also came the release of weekend passes and select individual tickets, which are now on sale at www.shiveringsongs.com.
