Jaclyn Reinhart is the latest musician to join the 2019 Larlee Creek Hullabaloo line-up. She found her place on the Perth-Andover music festival’s lineup after winning their “Play Our Stage” contest.
Reinhart says that the festival is going to be a fresh experience for her. Being a first time performer at the festival is one of the conditions of entering Larlee Creek Hullabaloo’s “Play Our Stage” contest, but Reinhart says the last time she spent any time in the town she was almost too young to remember.
Despite haven’t spent little time time in Perth-Andover, Reinhart says she’s be following the festival for years and had previously met organizer Heidi Baird at the East Coast Music Awards.
“I’ve always paid attention to their line-ups and really love some of those artist. I’ve actually shared the stage with a few,” notes Reinhart. “Usually, I’m playing somewhere that weekend, so I haven’t gone as a spectator and I’ve never applied. So, this year when the contest came up, I threw my name in.
“I’ve passed though on my way west but that would be about it. I will certainly remember more this time!”
The contest Reinhart won meant being juried in before facing off on the shortlist against Jessie Jenkins and The Ross Sisters. The rest was determined by a social media showdown, with each submitting live performance videos.
“Well, of course I wanted to win. I wasn’t sure what I ‘d be up against,” says Reinhart. “There was only three of us acts. I felt that I might have had a bit more experience in a sense, so I was a little nervous to see what kind of support I had. But I was very happy with the response I got from people though shares, likes and comments.”
Reinhart will be performing some fresh, unreleased material for the festival, along with a couple of new songs that she’s still working on.
“I’ve been writing a lot,” says Reinhart, noting that she’s now working on her third album thanks to a grant from Music/Musique NB.
Reinhart will be joining Juno Award-winning folk-rock trio Elliott Brood, Dave Gunning, J.P. Cormier, Rachel Beck ft. Atlantic String Machine, Christina Martin, Dave Sampson, Ian Janes, Kendra Gale, Steve Marriner, Nick Earle, Villages, Jessie Brown, Tommy Green Jr., Leanne Hoffman, Cameron Nickerson, and Australian duo Hat Fitz and Cara.
The festival also includes several workshops, a free Picnic In The Park, the Farmer’s Market on Saturday, River Cruise shows on the St. John River, a Rock n’ Roll Boot Camp, and kids music and activities at the festival’s Family Stage.
