JUNO Award-winning Prince Edward Islanders and possibly the Maritime’s best-named band, The East Pointers, are returning with their third album and its first single, releasing “Wintergreen,” along with a series of cross-country tour dates.
The East Pointers are about to follow up on their 2015 JUNO Award-winning debut album Secret Victory and 2017 JUNO-nominated album What We Leave Behind. So, no pressure, right?
If our expectations have been set high, it’s only reinforced by the presence of producer and GRAMMY Award-winner Gordie Sampson (LeAnn Rimes, Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts) who will be returning to work with the band once again.
The East Pointer’s fiddler player and vocalist Tim Chaisson says the single marks the beginning the next chapter for the band, particularly with this cross-country tour on the horizon.
“We’re also touring across our beautiful country this fall so go look at the dates!” says Chaisson. “We’ve got a lot of new music to share with you.”
The band describe the new single as offering a light in the darkness to those who need it. “Wintergreen” is full of reassurances that everything will be alright.
The song also has plenty of potential for placement in the next Wrigley’s gum commercial.
The band will be embarking on a series of tour dates this Fall that will take them across Canada and wrap up in their hometown of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. You can also catch them at their own Rollo Bay Fiddle Festival on Prince Edward Island, from July 19 to 21, 2019.
