New Music: Get Down And Dirty With Lewcid’s ‘Ebullition’ EP

Fredericton bass artist Lewcid has dropped Ebullition, his latest EP. Featuring three dynamic tracks of lucid proportions, Lewcid’s latest is absolutely filthy (for those of your unfamiliar with bass music, this is a good thing).

“For this EP, I wanted to explore the boundaries of freeform and experimental bass,” says Lewcid. “I also wanted to push my creativity to the next level.”

“It’s not easy to take things to the next level individually, but I find balance in my other hobbies allows me to think clearly and more creatively when I’m producing.”

The EP’s titular track greets us with a slight, fleeting, haunting opening. The eventual drop taunts you with grimy synths and bassy percussion, knowing full well it’s more mysterious than you.

“Ebullition means two things; bubbling, and an outburst of emotion,” remarks Lewcid. “Music is an amazing way to convey any inner feeling or emotion, and I believe this EP is simply just that.”

“Epice” sports a similarly eerie beginning, but we jump into the bread and butter of it much sooner. Before long, the same heavy-handed percussion is shuffling around Lewcid’s plethora of low-rise, cyberpunk notes, like a rainstorm in the year 2077.

Finally, “Evolution” opens with mysterious whispers and static undertones. The percussion is as decisive as ever, with every beat seeming to offer up a different kind of background instrument. It’s here where we see Lewcid’s eerie openings mingle with the bass-heavy, acid-like meat of his tracks, with the earlier static whispers popping up during the track every now and again.

“Since I began going to music festivals, I’ve become aware of the impact that music can have on an individual, especially through the low-end frequencies,” says Lewcid. “My goal for this album was to have my bass lines to mentally and physically affect my audience.”

“My progress as an artist continues to blow me away, and hopefully it will for all of you as well.”
