Canadian folk singer Old Man Luedecke returns with a music video for his second single “The Death Of Truth.” The track comes off of Old Man Luedecke’s upcoming album, Easy Money. This will be Luedecke’s sixth studio album since his award winning release of Domestic Eccentric back in 2015.
The three-minute video which was edited and compiled by Paul Henderson, shows us a compilation of short videos that vary between protests, press releases and happy family home videos which seem to all date back to earlier years, as we can see in the vintage black and white shots.
The clips are a homage to Luedecke’s late father who passed away.
Background vocals provided by Alfie Jurvanen (Bahamas) create a soothing transition from chorus to verse with soft harmonies in between. The light soulful plucking of strings provides a mellow atmosphere throughout the entire track and plays along well to Luedecke’s emotional lyrics.
The song becomes a memorial to his dad as we hear Luedecke say how misses being able to call him to make sense of the news and what is going on in the world today. From what we know Luedecke’s father was a news junkie, hence the political and press related images shown in the video. In light of recent politics it is easy to see where the real “death of truth” steams from.
Keep a lookout for Easy Money to be released June 14th via True North Records.
