It seems like the only way for T. Thomason is up. The Nova Scotian singer-songwriter recently revealed that his latest song, “Hope,” was selected for the Sizzle Reel track for this year’s Inside Out LGBT Film Festival.
“I’m so glad that more and more, LGBTQ2S+ stories are being brought to the forefront for all of us to learn from and celebrate,” Thomason wrote in the post.
The track was the product of Thomason’s participation, and eventually victory in, CTV’s “The Launch,” in which he and four other artists from across Canada each performed their rendition of Jocelyn Alice Strang’s “Hope” in hopes of being voted the winner of the talent-seeking program. Thomason’s version was released shortly after the vote had concluded.
And now the track has found its way to Inside Out, a film festival featuring films created by and about the LGBTQ+ community with a mission to challenge existing attitudes about the community and culture.
“It was a real honour to know Inside Out was considering me,” Thomason says. “Several of the folks there are from the East Coast and it’s so cool to see East Coasters continuing to support each other, even as we move on to other places in the world.”
“I don’t think there could be a more perfect visual representation for that song,” Thomason says, “and I’m so glad Inside Out felt it was a fit for their reel.”
Thomason is eager for moviegoers to hear “Hope” at the festival and hopes that this exposure will springboard into new opportunities.
“You never know who will be in the audience and who will go home humming the song,” says Thomason.
The Inside Out LGBT Film Festival will run from May 23rd to June 2nd in Toronto, Ontario.
