The Saint John Theatre Company celebrated a milestone today as they announce their 30th season. At an event hosted by SJTC Artistic Director Stephen Tobias and SJTC Board President George Daniel at their current BMO Studio location on Princess Street, they presented the theatre company’s major productions for 2019-2020. The announcements today included three Main Stage Series works that will be performed on the Imperial Theatre stage, and several smaller productions that will be hosted at their own BMO Studio Theatre.
“As we enter our 30th Season the SJTC will continue to break new ground. Touring networks are expanding. International partnerships are in the works. Productions are growing in size and complexity. Opportunities for local theatre-makers, visiting guest artists and young theatre professionals are being developed. I am confident that we will be able to report that this season will be the biggest and the best season ever!” said Artistic Director Stephen Tobias.
The SJTC’s Main Stage works at the Imperial Theatre include their Christmas production of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, adapted by Bob Doherty and directed by Dean Turner which will run from Nov 20-23. The Main Stage will also play host to the award-winning Alfred Uhry drama Driving Miss Daisy (March 25-28) directed by Stephen Tobias, as well as the classic musical Mary Poppins (May 20-23) directed by Jennifer Mabey.
Keeping with tradition, the Saint John Theatre Company will also include a Loyalist City Shakespeare production; with Much Ado About Nothing (July 16-20), as well as the seventh annual Fundy Fringe Festival (Aug 19-24).
