With just a few pieces of news trickling out over the last couple of months (and there were some special nuggets), we’ve all been kept on our toes waiting for news of Folly Fest’s 2019 lineup. Today, we’ve been given a clearer picture of who we’re going to expect with the addition of several new acts.
“Folly year 11 is officially the year we figure this Festival thing out. The lineup is a dreamy combo of local and touring acts, that combined with Monday being a holiday [and] we’re all in for a real treat,” says Folly Festival chief organizer Paul McAllister.
One of the most exciting gifts Folly organizers are bringing to Hippy Christmas this year is Oka’s return to New Brunswick soil. The Australian progressive-didgeridoo-dance group stole the hearts of festivalgoers after performing at Evolve and Midsummer Madness during the summer of 2015.
The second miracle to be bestowed upon us this year is the live recording of Grand Theft Bus at Folly Fest for a release on vinyl. The festival announced the plan as an Indiegogo campaign with several reward tiers in April. The band are veterans of the festival several times over, but this will be a first for them in regards to both the live recording and the vinyl release.
The complete list of new performers announced today include, OKA, Grand Theft Bus, Apollo Suns, Keith Hallett, McKinley, Morrison, and Williams, Bleum, Montgomery Street Band, The Blue Lane, Mastradamus, Glamingo, Incendia Motus, Industribe, The Calithumpians, Let’s Be Frank Here (A Frank Sinatra Tribute), Capital 6, Kait McKinley, Aryelle Morrison, Calum Jackson, Neil Morash, Moon Druid, Freeda Whales, Lewcid, Derb, Baggs B2B, Astro Not, Swivelle, Glyphic, Marie-Ange Zoghaib, DMayne, and Betsy White.
These acts join those previously announced: Fortunate Ones, Afrikana Soul Sister, Alysha Brilla, Papagroove, The Brood, The Hypochondriacs, Weak Size Fish, The Galpines, Tampa, Morohubu, Carinae, The Vaudevillian, Jamie Comeau & The Crooked Teeth, Womb 2 Tomb, Chickahominy Mountain Band, Jaguar Knight, Sweet Lightning, The Falling Leaves, Monteith, Jerry-Faye Band, Pallmer, Catherine Kennedy and Kylie Fox.
