The newest addition to the Living Roots festival is now the last to announce its lineup. Now in its fourth year of showcasing up-and-coming roots artists in and around Fredericton, Living Roots has added a special Sunday afternoon performance at The Fredericton Playhouse, the “Little Sprouts” School Band Benefit Concert, a fundraiser for the “Music in Schools” program in support of the school band programs at Royal Road and Nashwaaksis Middle Schools. The show will also feature a couple of guest performers.
Concert goers at the Fredericton Playhouse on Sunday, June 2nd, will be treated to two very special guest performers for a great afternoon of music. Local Fredericton favourites 8Track Mind bring a big band approach to pop, rock, and funk favourites; their mix of 9 different performers will bring classics to life in what is sure to be a crowd pleasing set. Serving as the show’s headliner is outlaw country singer Steve Waylon, who brings a rock mentality to his country sound.
Spearheading the organizing is a committee of parent organizers, including Will Dickeson. “We’re very excited to share this concert with the city: we’ll be combining child and guest performers to create a unique celebration of local talent—both up-and-coming and established stars.”
Living Roots founder and organizer Eddie Young is very excited to be welcoming his youngest performers to the fold: “I was very excited when I heard the news of the school fundraiser, and I did not hesitate to include this in the Living Roots programming as this is exactly what we are all about, growing the music scene and being all inclusive.”
Admission is $25 or just $10 for festival pass holders or youth 13 and under. Tickets are now on sale at the Fredericton Playhouse website. For more information on the Living Roots Music Festival 2019 lineup click here.
