Prince Edward Island’s Rock the Boat Music Festival has played host to some big names in the past. Held each year in Tyne Valley’s Green Park during the Tyne Valley Oyster Festival, they’ seen the likes of Blue Rodeo, The Glorious Sons, Trooper, April Wine and Tom Cochrane. Today they’ve announced the full line-up for their 6th annual festival. Topping the list are Canadian-American rockers Big Wreck and JUNO Award winning Canadian country rockers The Road Hammers. This year Rock the Boat Music Festival (and Oyster Festival) will be held on August 3, 2019.
“I think like most people I’m looking forward to another Oyster Festival / Rock the Boat,” says Adam MacLennan, festival chair. “It’s that time of year where many family and friends make there way back to Tyne Valley as it has become tradition for many that this is where you spend your long weekend in August!”
“It’s amazing how much this festival has grown over the past years. I think it’s why many from the island are proud to attend rock the boat annually. What’s makes the organizers proud of our festival is we are 100% volunteer / community operated and all proceeds goes towards supporting various non profit organizations.”
This year the full line-up for the one-day event includes headliners Canadian Country band The Road Hammers and hard rockers Big Wreck (who will, no doubt, be playing “That Song”), along with Canadian classic rockers Honeymoon Suite, Prince Edward Island legends Haywire, fan favourites The Ellis Family Band, and local indie rockers Soul Filter.
“We have a strong lineup this year from top to bottom which many will be excited to hear,” says MacLennan.
“Green Park will be rocking more than ever. We take great pride in featuring Canadian Rock Music and this year we have our strongest line-up from top to bottom.”
