When Logan Richard recently ran into a past lover, he was immediately confronted with a barrage of what-ifs: what would their lives look like if they’d done things differently, or maybe, what if he could just walk across that room and asked her to try it again. That’s the folk pop question of the day with his new song “Lover Again.”
“I ran into an old love at a bar one night and wished I could bring her back into my life. I began wondering what life would be like if we had never parted ways, and what life would be like if we re-kindled that flame. I wanted to know what it would be like if she was my lover again.” says Richard.
Recorded with producer Chris Kirby as part of Music PEI’s Golden Ticket program, “Lover Again” also features some great backing vocals from Jocelyn Reyome.
Richard says that he sadly hasn’t since gotten back together his former flame, but for good reason, and rather than just sliding into her DMs he’s chosen to take the high road: by very publicly recording a song about it and letting her figure it out.
“Well, she is in a very happy relationship now, so I do not want to have an angry boyfriend after me,” laughs Richard. “I am just throwing it out there. If one day she learns that it’s about her, then so be it! Lets be real, I will likely one day drunkenly send it to her.
“I am hoping that this song is what breaks me into the big leagues, so that one day I can thank her for all my success.”
There are some plans to include the “Lover Again” on a Logan Richard’s upcoming full-length album. No details on the album are available yet, beyond a plan to return to the studio to work with Chris Kirby.
“Yeah! He is going to do the album. Haha, yes! They have been so great to work with. They are so supportive, it is great.”
