Music Video: The Bloody Hell Release ‘Diggin” Just In Time For Halloween And Get A Visit From The Fire Dept

Just in time for Halloween, Halifax’s Horror Punks The Bloody Hell have released a video for the song “Diggin’,” the most recent installment in a long standing tradition of bands looking for love down at the graveyard.

Following in the footsteps on Kingston rockers the Headstones, The Bloody Hell have disregarded their vows of “’til death do us part,” to spend just a little more time with a loved one.

“I wrote the song to be an obvious cliché,” explain The Bloody Hell’s frontman Ian Kean. “It’s standard practice in the horror punk to write a song about digging up your dead girlfriend. I had the ‘I’m diggin’ you’ part kicking around in my head for a while, so once I decided to jump head first into that cliché it pretty much wrote itself.”

Taken from their self-titled debut, released back in June, 2018, the band decided on “Diggin'” and put the video idea together over beers with film maker Colin MacDonald.

“We had talked about working on a video together for a while so we discussed some ideas for various songs. The idea was also to release the video on Halloween so we weighed the options and concepts, and decided to move forward with ‘Diggin”,” says Kean.

But the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry. Filming late at night in a graveyard was apparently the easy part. When it came it filming in the studio it resulted in a visit from the fire department.

“We set off the fire alarm… some believe it’s because the vibe in the room was pure fire, some believe it was the haze machine. [We’ll] probably never know for sure,” says Kean.

Although there was no real fire, the fire department did leave the band with a written warning, and told them to have fun shooting the video.

“We are just glad they didn’t break the door in. Obviously with all the rocking and rolling we didn’t hear them banging on the door till we took a break,” says Kean. “It was only a ticket if it was a second offence in a year. Not sure if the place had the fire department there in the last year. Should probably follow up on that, but I’m sure if there was a fine they come looking for us.”
