Award-winning singer/songwriter Dylan Menzie has teamed up with electronica personality Lonely Kid to deliver “You Could Be My Queen.” The newfound duo both hail from Prince Edward Island, and have combined their distinct talents into a surefire feel-good tune.

“The song means a lot to me,” commented lyricist Dylan Menzie, who best his own award-winning folk style. “With the months of time and effort that went into it, the learning experiences that came from collaborating in a new way, in a new genre.”

It’s a bold departure from Menzie’s usual. Menzie has gracefully transitioned from folk to pop artist in the past (and back again with acoustic versions of his album Adolescent Nature with his release of As The Clock Rewards back in March, 2018), but moving into the realm of dance music, or at least visiting it, is a step necessarily taken with both feet.

“I hope listeners can find a piece of themselves and their loved ones in the lyrics, and then bust a move.”

After a relaxing opening beat by Lonely Kid, Menzie’s iconic voice lulls us further into the track, and the duo waste no time in getting right into the bouncy dance atmosphere of this collaboration. From Menzie’s lyrics to the dazzling brass synths employed by Lonely Kid, the track is an excellent combination of radio-ready pop and dancefloor material.

The message of the track, as the title would suggest, follows a sort of true-love fantasy; a theme that Menzie found easy inspiration for.

“I wrote the lyrics for my amazing partner, and I’m really proud to finally share it,” says Menzie.
