Aron Scott Earthquake are back and louder than ever with their latest album, Rager. The rock and roll quartet, in typical ASE fashion, refuse to deviate from their high-energy party rock style, making for an album that will have even the most low-key rockers dabble in head-banging.
Although, the titular track “Rager” is not what you’d expect, as the volume of the instruments takes a backseat to the vocals; vocals that do everything right in paying respects to a rager atmosphere.
The album features two cover tracks: Van Halen’s “On Fire”, and “Motorhead,” which was written by rock and roll icon Lemmy Kilmister. The former features Scott’s belting vocals and a multitude of riff melodies to make for an enjoyable take on the rock legends, while the latter is one of those hard rock tracks with the vocal techniques and beat that says, “yeah, we mean business.”
“Detroit Pussy Bomb” pulls no punches with its description. It’s exactly what you would expect.
Also featured on the album is the band’s previously released single “Tonight,” the “call to arms for rock and roll” that the Summerside ensemble pride themselves on.
Standout tracks include “Out Of Control,” whose overlayed lyrics and stuttered, hair-whipping riffs scoff at our physiological audio laws, “Come Get Some,” whose ear-filling guitars is partnered with a section that sounds rather Celtic; as though some sort of bagpipe etiquette were mapped onto a guitar, and “I’m Your Panhead Mama,” fast-paced track featuring rapid-fire melodies and beats, as well as quick bursts of Scott’s noisy guitar, starting and ending with the revving of a motorcycle.
The love that Aron Scott Earthquake has for rock and roll doesn’t go unnoticed in Rager, and those looking to just let loose will surely find something in the Prince Edward Island band’s latest.
