Halifax Urban Folk Festival Announces Full 2018 Lineup

The Halifax Urban Folk Festival has released the full lineup for this year’s event, happening in Halifax from August 26th to September 2nd. The new additions include Jarvis Church of the Philosopher Kings and Joel Plaskett, who will be sitting in as a Halifax All-Star to back Dennis Ellsworth.

In addition to the previously announced headliners Tim Baker of Hey Rosetta!, Lilly Hiatt, and Brad Roberts of the Crash Test Dummies, the full lineup now includes Tanya Davis, Moscow Apartment, Gabrielle Papillon, Natalie Lynn, Jodi Guthro, Jody Upshaw, Black Umfolosi, Paper Beats Scissors, Steve Poltz, Carmen Townsend, T. Thomason, Mick Davis, Dustin Bentall, Sadie Campbell, Major Love, John Jacob Magistery, Midnight Vesta, Ron Hawkins, Fairgale, Dylan Menzie, Jessie Brown, Makayla Lynn, Thomas Stajcer, Stewart Legere, Nathan Wiley, Gianna Lauren, Chris Kirby, Mike Bochoff, Lauren Marchand, Tommie Green Jr., Stuart Cameron, Campbell Woods, Chris Ryan, Baby God, Tomato/Tomato, Villages, Elijah Will, Brdgs and  Blackie and the Rodeo Kings band member Tom Wilson, whose performance will be centred around his book Beautiful Scars.

The announcement also includes the addition the Tasting Room at Propeller Brewing Co. as a music venue and two free concerts at the Halifax waterfront by artists from within Halifax as well as musicians visiting from Zimbabwe and Toronto.

Events like HUFF contribute to making Halifax a strong, vibrant place that attracts and inspires people.”

“It’s very important to us to provide as much free programming highlighting a wide array of genres over the course of our festival because one of our stated goals is to expose as many people to the joys of live music as possible,” says Mike Campbell, Artistic Director of HUFF. “We are very thankful for stellar community partners like Develop Nova Scotia, Propeller, the City of Halifax, and NewCap who make it possible for us to do this in exciting, new ways and we are keen to bring some outstanding performances from local, regional, and international artists to Foundation Place on the Halifax waterfont this summer.”
