Returning for its 23rd year, the Riverfront Jubilee is bringing a weekend full of music and activities to New Glasgow, Nova Scotia once again. They are announcing their first set of performers for this year, including headliners July Talk.
Other artist announced so far include Matthew Good, Jimmy Rankin, The Kitchen Criminals, StoneHouse, Alert The Medic, Sorrey, Roxy & The Underground Soul Sound, Reeny Smith, Working Class Band, Natalie Lynn, and Reuben and the Dark.
In addition, the Jubilee will be hosting other events, like the Carlton Munroe Songwriters Circle, and for those over the age of 19, late night stages will be hosting even more music fun. The festival renamed their songwriting circle this year to honour east coast music promoter and Riverfront Jubilee Executive Director Carlton Munroe who passed away last year after losing his battle with Glioblastoma. He served as Executive Director of the Jubilee for nine years.
“It is so special to our Jubilee family that we’ve named the songwriter’s circle in honour of Carlton,” said Jubilee 2018 Chair Michelle MacLean. “Carlton was such a huge fan and driver of supporting local, and up-and-coming artists, and really enjoyed the special music, storytelling, and memories that have come from our songwriter circles over the years. While he’s not with us physically this year, we know that he will be there with us the whole weekend.”
“We know Carlton would be so honoured and humbled by this,” said MacLean.
Many of the Jubilee’s venues are free of charge, making it widely accessible to all those who wish to participate.
The Riverfront Jubilee takes place in New Glasgow, Nova Scotia on August 3rd, 4th, and 5th. Tickets are on sale now for the 2018 Riverfront Jubilee online at jubilee.ns.ca or ticketpro.ca and at any TicketPro Outlet, currently for $85 for an adult weekend pass.
