Pictou County, Nova Scotia is capable of turning out more than just some of the world’s best pizza; they’re also home to a spectacular music festival organized and curated by Groundswell Music and none other than east coast rockers The Stanfields. The Blacktop Ball is returning for it’s fourth year for a weekend of music, camping and beaches on August 10th and 11th, 2018. Today, the festival announced their full lineup for the two-day event.
Conceived in a collaborative effort by property owner Orville Mason and The Standfields frontman Jon Landry, the Blacktop Ball will naturally be hosting performances by the band each night of the festival.
“[This will be] our biggest and most ambitious Blacktop Ball yet! So many great artists on the bill whom we are thankful to call friends. The band and crew are pretty excited to introduce the lineup to new ears (and in some cases, within new formats!),” says Landry.
“[There will be] Daytime activities, food trucks, the beach but most importantly, a gathering of incredibly generous and wonderful people. I’m starting to reach the exclamation point quota here, but here’s one more for the best weekend of your summer!”
This year’s full lineup includes The Stanfields, Fredericton’s rockabilly superstars the Hypochondriacs, Jessie Brown, Villages, The Royal Volts, Hatchet Lake, Carmel Mikol, Andre Pettipas & the Giants, Kilmore, Tomi Allen, Niki Veniot and Deerfield featuring the Blacktop Ballstars.
Festival organizers say that the festival also has two other surprise additions this year that should make a lot of people happy.
“I think it’s a pretty good lineup this year,” says Sarah Atkinson of Groundswell Music.
“We’re doing the two night shows plus we’re introducing a pancake breakfast/songwriters circle on the Saturday.”
The Blacktop Ball takes place in Ponds, Pictou County on August 10th and 11th, 2018. Tickets are available online.
