Prince Edward Island hard rockers Aron Scott Earthquake have announced the release of their new single “Tonight” off of their new album Rager. The Summerside outfit are a high-energy, noise-heavy group whose music, particularly their newest single, is a nod to the spirited, head-banging, doing-90-in-a-50-zone rock ‘n’ roll. It’s a love letter to party rock.
The intensity of the track pulls no punches. It starts with the roar of an electric guitar, building a base for the track that’s evocative of a gasoline-powered nod to Seattle’s 90s post-grunge rockers The Presidents Of The United States Of America. Punchy drums soon add themselves to the mix, and the track gets into full swing as the band express themselves in this passion-packed track.
There’s no lull of zest in “Tonight,” for if Aron Scott isn’t belting out a lyric or the chord isn’t stealing the spotlight, we’re instead treated to one of the many hard-hitting guitar licks that litter the track with as much vigor as radioactive elephants going on a rampage in a skyscraper.
“The song, for me anyway, is a call to arms for rock and roll,” said lead vocalist Aron Scott.
“It’s about bringing back the spirit of big rock and having fun. Forget your troubles, forget the Trumps, forget the news and the pollution and that jerk at work and your bank account and the traffic and the weather and whatever and just let loose. Rock out and have fun!”
Indeed, the energy, length and uniformity of the track can certainly provide the wild, mindless, tension-scorning vibe that the band aimed for. Its repetitiveness may not suit the homebody or the Starbucks-goer, but the single certainly accomplished its goal in bringing party-oriented arena rock back into the fray.
