For its 9th edition, Summer’s End Folk Festival have just released a video announcement with their lineup of performing artists, including Tampa, Walrus, Keith Hallett and Julie Aubé. On August 17th and 18th, hundreds will gather on the island of Grand Manan once again to celebrate music, art and community.
The video itself was produced by Mike Trask in the style of a 1980’s vertical scroller video game, in which cars pile onto a ferry, and the ferry hits the band names to build the score. In the end, the viewer wins every time, and the prize is arriving at the festival.
Also performing at this year’s two-day festival on the beautiful Bay of Fundy will be Basia Bulat, Jim Henman, Julie Aubé, Laura Sauvage, Mike Trask, Sam Salmon and the Grand Manan Bandits and Piper Burns.
“Super excited about this years line up,” says the festival’s organizers “It’s a little bit different than the others years and includes a lot of maritime bands. Pretty cool to have all 3 Hay Babies separate bands playing!”
And though last year’s festival was partly rained out, the expectations for this year are still quite high.
“Last year’s festival we experienced bad weather for I think the first time of all the years, so our audience was a bit smaller—but it cleared up in time for the evening both nights. Campers got a little wet overnight but it was still a lovely festival!”
Organizers expect an attendance of anywhere between 400 and 600 people.
Tickets for Summer’s End Folk Festival are available now on their website for $100, and kids under the age of 12 get in for free. Tickets will also be available soon at Backstreet Records in both Fredericton and Saint John, as well as at various locations across Grand Manan.
