Mud City Meltdown is set to return for its fourth year from July 24th to 28th, during which the city of Moncton will be filled with live performances by musicians from across Eastern Canada and beyond.
The festival are going to have a hard time topping last year’s lineup, which featured alt-rock juggernauts The Headstones, Daniel Lanois, East Coast punk-rock superstars Like A Motorcycle, Les Païens, The Galpines, and Iron Giant. If anything, Mud City Meltdown have earned their reputation for having a diverse line of crowd-pleasers.
This year festival-goers can look forward to five days of metal, punk, blues, folk and more, starting with a free show by the Kendra Gale Band at Victoria Park on the 24th.
Among the other acts to play this weekend will be returning Canadian thrash metal legends Sacrifice at the festival’s mainstage venue, the Tide and Boar Ballroom. Opening the show for them will be Pisshorse and Spew.
“When the prospect of Sacrifice returning to the Maritimes after a 27 year hiatus became reality, we were beyond ecstatic!” explains Festival Manager, Xavier Léger.
Other acts announced for this year’s event include soulful Acadian artist Caroline Savoie, Toronto’s wild acid-folk-country-punk band The Sadies, Mountain Dust, Which Witch is Which and New Brunswick’s biggest bluesman Matt Andersen, who will be giving a solo performance at the Central United Church on Friday, July 26th.
In addition, attendees can enjoy the Community Block Party at the Moncton Market on Saturday, July 28th. This event will feature not only great live acts, but also kids activities and a beer garden for the grown-ups.
“The Festival is constantly looking for unique show opportunities to present and we feel that this year’s program has something special in store for everyone,” says Léger.
