Sackville, New Brunswick are kicking off the festival season this year with the return of their fourth annual Bordertown Music Festival. This year’s lineup includes headliners David Myles and folky duo Tomato/Tomato among a slew of other music acts and activities.
As Sackville describe it, Bordertown is, “about crossing the lines that categorize our community, working together, and celebrating all that this small town has to offer”.
“We’re very excited about the diversity of this year’s festival,” says Bordertown’s creative director and Sackville’s Tourism and Business Development manager Ron Kelly Spurles.
“We’ve got something for just about everyone, and we’re really looking forward to the opportunity to show off our great little Town to visitors.”
Saint John’s Tomato/Tomato will be opening the festival with their performance on May 2nd. Between Thursday, May 3rd and Saturday, May 5th, Border Town will swing from Country Music to Crooners with performances from the Junior Jills, Drew Moore, Stacey Lynn Read, headliner David Myles, as well as Steve Haley and Klarka Weinwurm, David Greenberg, Frantically Atlantic, Peter Karp, Skylar Cameron and Branden Olsen, and Three Bob Night, before coming to an end with a performance by Beverly Glenn-Copeland and the Indigo Rising on May 6th.
The festival will also be offering fine arts and family events for all ages. These include a stone carving workshop with Heather Lawson; an Art Hive; Owens Make Something Sunday; a photography show reception with Adrian Kiva; the Sackville Farmers Market; Anansi’s Web play for children; Beverly Glenn-Copeland’s Drum Workshop; and medieval arts, displays and workshops.
In addition to the other acts and events, the festival will be hosting a Salon Reading by Live Bit Theatre of a scene from an original musical about Chester Cole appropriately enough called “Cole.”
Bordertown Festival takes place across Sackville, New Brunswick between May 2nd and 6th, 2018. Tickets can be purchased directly at the door.
