Quietly slipping into your news feed this evening Quality Block Party, Saint John’s champions of the underground music scene and proponents of keeping Saint John ugly, announced their return and their 2018 summer festival lineup with the release of a poster.
Where last year’s festival almost definitely wasn’t not a means of offering an alternative to the somewhat overwrought feel of the East Coast Music Awards, and a stage for many otherwise under-represented musicians, this year’s Quality Block Party is a straight up victory lap.
Quality Block Party are seeing a handful of returning acts from their inaugural festival. Among the returning acts are New Brunswick’s legendary Julie Doiron, Fredericton circus rockers Motherhood, and Saint John favourites Little You Little Me. This year they’ll be joined by more than a few bands worth checking out.
“I’m pretty excited; it’s been fun to plan April with August in our minds too,” says festival organizer Peter Rowan.
“Super proud to work with Abigail [Smith], Corey [Bonnevie] and a real crew of supporters. Pretty excited about late show at Callahan’s on Friday w Papal Visit, Dinnr Drugs, Butcher and totally legendary Peter Parkers; this is like their first show in some time. Dan Laj on Sat at Taco Pica will be lit too.”

Quality Block Party takes places across Uptown Saint John between April 27th-29th, 2018. Locations include: Taco Pica, Five & Dime, Sanctuary Theatre, Callaghan’s Pub, Backstreet Records, Peppers Pub, Boyd Pop Up, Jones Gallery, Rogue Coffee. Passes are available at Backstreet Records in Saint John. Individual shows will also have tickets available at the door.
