Tonight Music/Musique NB celebrated their 8th annual Prix MNB Awards Show by handing out some 27 awards while kicking off Festival (506) at the Tide & Boar in Moncton. The awards celebrate notable artists and individuals within the industry from around New Brunswick.
While Saint John duo Tomato/Tomato, Moncton’s jazzy funkers Les Païens and the very formidable Les Hôtesses d’Hilaire all took home two awards apiece, but it was The Divorcees who won the coveted Album of the Year Award.
Notably, the Directors’ Lifetime Achievement Award was awarded to industry veteran and Music/Musique NB founding board member Yolande Bourgeois.
“With over 30 years in the New Brunswick musical scene, Yolande Bourgeois has worked with many cultural organisations, including the Francofête en Acadie, the Acadian World Conference, the Accros de la chanson and the provincial Council of cultural societies, to name a few. Founding member of the Music/Musique NB Board of Directors, Yolande also headed the Arts Development Branch for the province of New Brunswick. “
“The MNB Awards Show is a great way for us to kick off Festival (506),” says Jean Surette, MNB Executive Director. “It feels like a big family reunion and gives us a chance to acknowledge the great music being created, produced and played across New Brunswick all year round.”
