We are witnessing the ongoing and conscious evolution of Levi Rowan. Since the release of his single “Night Terrors” in 2019, there’s been a marked growth in his artistic style and production quality; eschewing teenage bravado for a deeper introspection better suited to 2020 and an artist of his talents. That growth figures into his latest single, “Let It Go”, in a big way as Levi totes the values of self-acceptance, especially when others aren’t prepared to.
“I’ve said it before but ‘Let It Go’ is basically my Spider-Man 1,” says Levi Rowan. “It’s a sort of origin story in which I take people through instances that I remembered from my youth of people painting me as the ‘bad kid’.
“It’s taking all that and then saying, be confident that you’re the best version of yourself right now and that growth happens, nobody is the same person they were even a couple of years ago, so the hell with it.”
Produced by Corey LeRue, who also worked on Levi Rowan’s previous singles, “Night Terrors” and “Honest“, “Let It Go” is another great example of Levi honing his sound as well. It’s cleaner and punchier, with Levi veering further away from his Nude Beach roots and faster-than-light lyrical delivery. We can imagine Levi feeling as if he’s moving in slow motion, but it does give the rest of us a chance to keep up with him.
And let’s not beat around the bush here, the stellar new music video produced by Alex Gayoso is probably the coolest video we’ve seen yet this year, bringing Levi Rowan’s metamorphosis to completion.
“What really excites me about this release is it leans a little more towards alternative than my previous two releases,” says Levi. “Vocally, things are also way bigger. With ‘Night Terrors’ and ‘Honest’ I wanted to make really catchy quick songs that were earworms for the listener. Something people could sing along to.”
