North of Nowhere, a rock band with punk sensibilities out of Amherst, Nova Scotia, have released their a video for “HER,” their latest single about love and addiction.
Recorded at the Groove Factory in Amherst, Nova Scotia with engineer and producer Chris Thomas the song hits fast and heavy on some classic rock fodder: a self-destructive path of succumbing to temptation and vice like it’s a bad relationship you just can’t get enough of.
The video was shot by Small Steps Creative Solutions in Amherst, Nova Scotia at Triders Craft Beer. It features not only the band rocking out in the bar, but also joins Andre Pettipas for a wild night after possibly the most conspicuous drug hand-off ever.
“I wrote ‘HER’ in the mindstate of a person battling addiction and constantly wanting to be better but also being very close to falling off the pier of addiction back into ‘HER’ temptations,” explains Dylan Ellis, North of Nowhere’s vocalist and rhythm guitarist. “[It’s about] how while being with her everything else seems dull in comparison. Each time could kill the person but never stops them from jumping back in.”
“‘Her’ could be a big bottle of rum, a joint, a woman or anything in between; whatever the person needs to get away from their current reality. You could say its about love. You could say addiction. You could say it’s either or both. I guess I imagined a guy battling his own demons and by the end of the second verse he’s given in completely.”
The band say they’ve got plans to release a few more singles before the end of the year, but entirely as standalones and with no album n the horizon just yet.
