Music Video: No, It’s Fine Release a Video for ‘Knicks’ That we can Really Sink our Teeth Into

Nova Scotia indie rockers No, It’s Fine have just released a new music video for their song “Knicks.” Having released their self-titled EP back in January of 2018 it’s nice to see them jumping back into action, and with today’s video release also comes the announcement that they will be heading to Fredericton’s Flourish Festival this year.

“It’s kind of a knock-on-wood situation right now but we are working on new material.” says No, It’s Fine vocalist Cailen Pygott. “I have a good idea of when we’re going to record it, but not of when it’ll be released.”

As we dive into the song Pygott explains that the lyrics are just that of the title, a song about cutting yourself while shaving. Although if you think about it, it can also insinuate that one small mistake can stick with you for a long time, even the rest of your life – maybe like turning your client into a vampire, who knows.

“It can stick with you like the scar from the time you slipped climbing a fence or the burn mark from when you accidentally touched a hot pan or the prolonged awkward pause after professing your love for a friend. Just examples off the top of my head, y’know? Not speaking from experience.” adds Pygott

Now, if you think you need a new haircut you may want to think twice before walking into this barber shop. Director Jagger Lillington puts us in a place where Dracula and Sweeney Todd have been seemingly morphed together. Trust us you do not want to get that cool fade you’ve been talking about from this guy. Lillington manages to make the video fun with a touch of gore, while staying true to the lyrics of the song.

“The inspiration for the video came primarily from the lyrics in the song,” states Lillington. “The imagery of cutting yourself shaving was very vivid, and I just kind of wanted to take that to the extreme, which lead to the idea of a barber shop run by vampires. It gave me a chance to do camp horror, which is a genre I’m a huge fan of, and I’ve been dying for the chance to make something like this, so it was really just all the pieces falling into place.”

You can catch No,It’s Fine play their first out of province date at Flourish Festival in Fredericton on April 26, just don’t forget to bring your wooden stake.
