Rising electronica duo Bleum have dropped their latest single, “Move With Me.” Resulting from a creative breakthrough in August of last year, vocalist Brittany McQuinn and producer Daniel James have set themselves free with their latest.
“When it comes to people noticing Bleum’s growth, it just feels right to be putting out the best music we can all the time,” says McQuinn. “I realize not everyone who heard music we made before is going to be into how we’ve changed, but it would mean a lot to me if they embraced it.”
The passion, spunk, and sensuality of the track makes itself known right away. Between James’s slow percussion, synths like heavy rain and McQuinn’s sharp, enthralling lyrics, “Move With Me” slams a spiked high-heel on the floor immediately, letting everyone know that Bleum means business. The drop then animates the dormant, powerful energy lying at the surface of the track, with McQuinn’s whispery chorus line trading blows with James’s monster stampede of a synth.
“I would say the theme is about the people around you being flexible while you grow and change, not trying to keep you in a box that works for them in some way,” says McQuinn.
McQuinn also noted the incredible support that Bleum has received from the music scene on the East Coast.
“When we released “Lose You” in March of last year, we had no expectations aside from the satisfaction we would feel by releasing our first Bleum song. But something kind of magical happened,” says McQuinn. “The satisfaction we expected to feel from that one release turned into overall creative fulfillment, as we felt so supported by our community to keep doing what we’ve been doing. “
“We have no plans to slow down. I know for me what started as a side project called Bleum has turned into my main project, and I am totally happy with that.”
And we’re happy with it too. “Move With Me” is a sneak peek of an evolved Bleum, and we can’t wait to hear what they surprise us with next.
